AOL USERS: you cannot use your AOL Browser to connect to the catalog. AOL will drop your session and give you a message that you were “timed out.”
To connect to the online catalog from home: Use AOL to connect to the internet as you usually do. Then minimize your AOL screen (hide it at the bottom of your computer screen) by clicking on the box, upper right of the computer screen, with the underline _
Next find the icon for the Internet Explorer Browser (also known as IE). The IE browser allows you to visit websites just like your AOL Browser does.
The Icon looks like this:
You can usually find the icon on your Desktop, or by clicking on the Start Button and looking at the icons that appear.
Double-click on the IE to open up the browser. In IE’s Address Bar, type in: If you still have problems connecting to our Catalog, please call the Riverdale Library at 973-835-5044 and inform us that you are having problems accessing the Web Catalog. We will be happy to help you.
To resume your AOL session, when you have finished with the catalog, just double-click on the small box at the bottom of your screen to (re)enlarge the AOL window.
