Our theme this summer is “Metamorphosis @ The Library”. Change your insides
with good reads this summer, and lots of fun activities.
THEM!
Thursday June 26, 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.
Giant ants created from a radioactive accident! See this classic black and
white horror film, often credited for inspiring the film Alien. We’ll
watch the movie, munch on chocolate-covered ants (the less brave can have
popcorn), and try to keep from shrieking!
ORIGAMI
Thursday, July 24, 7:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Local resident Liz Harsley will be demonstrating the age-old art of origami.
Make origami butterflies and other decorations to take home. After our craft
insects, we’ll make a cup of dirt and worms to eat. Yum!
BOOKCHATTERS
Thursdays, July 3, July 31, and August 14,
5:00 – 6:00 p.m.
Read what you want this summer, and come tell the group about it.
In a relaxed atmosphere, with refreshments, we’ll talk about recent
reads (but don’t give away the ending!) and review new books here at the
library. Our last meeting will be an ice cream sundae party to wrap up a
summer of reading.
TEEN ADVISORY
BOARD
Thursday, July 17 and August 7, 7:00 – 8:00 p.m.
It’s been a few years since the librarians here were cool teenagers.
Help us purchase the books you want to read, plan the programs you want
to come to, and design the web page you want to visit. We’ll provide the
snacks, you provide the ideas!
TEEN VOLUNTEER
PROGRAM
Teens age 11 and over are invited to volunteer at the Riverdale Library
this summer. Teens in the past have copied materials, helped with
crafts, tended a garden, and organized work spaces. You will be
committing to two hours a week, regularly scheduled. If interested, call
the library and register. We only have twelve spots for volunteers, so
call now!
Stop in to register, or call (973) 835-5044 to be included in the summer
fun.
Metamorphosis Book Reviews - Enjoy a book, write a review, and see it on our website. Find out more by clicking on the link.
Not sure what to read next? Want to know what people your age thought about a certain book? If so, read other teen's reviews here.
