Fall Computer Classes at

the Riverdale Public Library

 

All classes are hands-on, small-group and free. Reservations are required. Please call Phil at (973) 835-5044 to register.

Meet the Computer

Wednesday September  3

  11:00a.m.-12:30p.m.

Learn about basic computer concepts in a hands-on environment. The instructor will explain the parts of a computer and how to use the mouse and keyboard. This is a beginning-level course. Required for all beginners.

Introduction to the Internet

Thursday September 11

  1:00p.m.-2:30 p.m.

Learn to feel comfortable searching the Internet. The instructor will explain search engines, web addresses, browsers and more. Prerequisite:  Meet the Computer.

Email: The Basics

Friday September 19

11:00p.m.-12:30 p.m.

This class is a basic introduction to email.  You will learn about email, phishing and avoiding viruses. The instructor will demonstrate how to set up your own free email account, as well as how to read and write email messages. Prerequisite:  Meet the Computer

Sending Pictures in Email

Have you received pictures from your grandkids and would like to look at them? Would you like to send your own digital photographs to friends and family? This class is for you! It will demonstrate how to open and send attachments using email.  Prerequisite:  Meet the Computer and Email

Google: The Basics

Wednesday October 1

11:00a.m.-12:30p.m.

This class will demonstrate basic Internet searches using Google and look at special Google features including Google Images, Froogle, Google News, and the Google Directory.  Prerequisite:  Meet the Computer

Wednesday November 12

11:00a.m.-12:30p.m.

Learn how to search for, buy and sell items on the world's largest auction, eBay. You will also learn how to set up an account and use PayPal. Prerequisite:  Meet the Computer

 Searching the Library Resources 

Thursday October 9

 

1:00p.m.-2:30p.m.

 This class covers the basic skills necessary to use the Library Catalog and Databases, including searching by author, title, and keyword. 90 minutes. Prerequisite:  Meet the Computer
