Through fundraising and community advocacy, the Friends of the Riverdale Public Library play a key role in the library’s success.  

Over the last nine years the Friends have raised over $32,000 for the Library.  Projects include:

* Annual Summer Reading Programs for children both school-age kids and teens
* Early Literacy program for infants and toddlers
* Large print books
* Travel collection
* Book bundles for the Riverdale Food Pantry
* Special programs during the school year
* Landscaping for the library
* New DVD's
* Database subscriptions to Salem Health and  Encyclopedia Britannica

This year alone, the Friends have give the library over $8,000 which supports:

Craft materials
Early Literacy Summer Reading
Magazines for the Teen collection
Juvenile audio book case
Tumble books subscription - an e-book program for children
Halloween program
World Book On-line
World Book 2012
For Adults:
Movie License for showing feature films
New DVD releases
Generations On-line - a email and web program for seniors
Encyclopedia Britannica on line
Salem Press Health Database
BookPage - a selection guide for new books. Copies available in the foyer.

Mark your calendar for the Friends of the Riverdale Public Library Annual Book Sale. The 2012 sale is scheduled for Friday, March 23, 4 - 8  p.m., Saturday, March 24, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Sunday, March 25, noon - 3 p.m.

Donations of books, DVD's, and CD's in good condition are welcome from January 31 through March 1, 2012. We cannot accept VHS tapes, textbooks or magazines.
