In the wake of one of our state’s worst natural disasters, EBSCO Publishing has generously donated the Home Improvement Reference Center™ to libraries in the New Jersey Library Network to aid our residents affected by Hurricane Sandy. Home Improvement Reference Center™ is a resource which provides detailed, user-friendly, “how-to” information about home improvements and repairs. Home Improvement Reference Center is a resource that provides detailed, user-friendly “how-to” information about home improvements and repairs. HIRC includes magazine articles and reference content as well as videos and images designed to help homeowners tackle home repairs safely. The database provides the latest step-by-step information along with background information and basic tips on topics including electrical, plumbing, woodworking, outdoor projects, maintenance and decorating.
This valuable information will be available to library patrons as they rebuild to ensure those making their own repairs or faced with clean up or do-it-yourself renovations have the know-how to handle these tasks. Access it at JerseyClicks, The database will be available through June 30, 2013.
Three major databases are included: Proquest Newstand, Gannett Newspapers, and the Historical New York Times (1851-2007). Proquest Newstand includes national and leading regional papers such as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, USA TODAY, Chicago Tribune, Los Angeles Times, The Atlanta Journal- Constitution, Barron's, The Boston Globe, The Guardian, The Christian Science Monitor, The Washington Post and major national newspapers. Gannett News includes local and regional newspapers like The Daily Record, Courier Post, Asbury Park Press, the Argus.
