Summer Reading Club Kick-Off 

Saturday, June 20, 11:30 am – 12:30 pm

Kids entering Grades 1 - 5

Our Summer Reading Program kicks off as singer and storyteller Ken Galipeau gets creative with music and tales.  Register for the summer reading program before or after the performance and pick up your goody bag.  Your reading log will be inside and you can get started earning prizes.

Lego Competition

Tuesday, June 30, 6:45 – 7:45 pm

Kids entering Grades 1 - 5

Bring your Lego skills and we’ll supply the Legos.  Participate in a team race to build the highest skyscraper.  Try to build the most creative animal.  Build a vehicle with the best engineering.  Prizes will be given!

 

Recycled Art

Kids entering Grades 1 – 5

Save the Earth and be creative at the same time!  Teachers from “So You Sewing and Design Studio” will have a project for us to make with recycled items.

 

Jewelry Making

Kids entering Grades 4 & 5 only

“So You Sewing and Design Studio” will return to lead 4th and 5th graders in making a cool piece of jewelry.  We’ll supply the know-how.  You bring the creativity!

Hear some stories, hang out with your friends and play some board games.  We’ll play Pictureka together, and PRIZES will be awarded.  (5th graders have the option of attending the teen drama workshop instead.)

Fifth graders are invited to join in with the teen summer reading program’s drama workshop. The workshop, presented by local resident and actress Leanne Weiss, will be taught over the course of two Tuesday evenings.

Talent Show and Ice Cream Party

Show off your talent!  In honor of this year’s summer reading theme, “Be Creative,” we’re wrapping up the summer reading program with a talent show.  Can you play an instrument?  Sing a song?  Do a dance?  Do you have a hilarious joke to tell?  This is your chance to show off!  Registration for the talent show begins at the Summer Reading Kick-off on June 20th and continues through July 31st.  (Talent Show performers do not have to be registered for the Summer Reading Club.)

Puppy Pals Reading Club

 2nd Tuesday of each month continuing through December              

4:00 – 5:00 p.m.

Dogs certified by St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center will be on hand at the library to “listen” to children read.  Bring your beginning reader, reluctant reader, or dog-lover for a session with a friendly listener.  Children can read privately to a dog and/or participate in a group session.  For children in Kindergarten through 5th grade.  Registration is required.

 Fourth and Fifth Graders, we need YOU!

We’re looking for 4th and 5th graders to read to younger children during our summer Puppy Pals sessions.  Call now to register.
