Brief synopsis or outline of the plot: Ginny's aunt died three months ago but she receives a letter and a box with 12 envelopes. Title: Among the Imposters Author: Margaret Peterson Haddix Why a five bug rating? This book deserves 5 bugs because of the many twists and unexpected turns it takes. Is is the second of the Shadow Children series and it leaves you wanting to read more. Brief synopsis or outline of the plot: In this book the main character comes out of hiding and goes to a school under a fake identity. He discovers that all of the children there are shadow children - except for the impostors who give away names to the population police. Karlee E., Grade 8
Title: Baseball Flyhawk Author: Matt Christopher Why a five bug rating? I feel this way because it was entertaining and grabbed my attention. Title: Bratfest at Tiffany's, a Clique novel Author: Lisi Harrison Why a five bug rating? I can relate to the character's problems and I also find myself laughing a lot. Brief synopsis or outline of the plot: For years, 5 girls have been the most popular people in their all-girl school. Brief synopsis or outline of the plot: This book is mostly about 4 girls and one girl wants to join in the clique but they don't tell her because she is not "rich" and "cool" enough to join. Title: Dial L for Loser Author: Lisi Harrison Why a five bug rating? I enjoyed reading this book and would recommend this book to girls my age because I feel like they can relate to it. Brief synopsis or outline of the plot: This novel is about 3 best friends competing for a role in a movie. When one gets the role, the other two try to embarrass her by revealing personal things on national t.v. or calling her names. In the end, the two friends apologize to the other friend. Title: Farmer Boy Author: Laura Ingalls Wilder Why a five bug rating? I felt this way because the main character is Laura's future husband its nice to see adults as children in their early life. Brief synopsis or outline of the plot: Almanzo Wilder, the main character lives on a farm in New York State with his family. The story is about farm life- from raising and selling horses to planting and harvesting. Although the Wilders have chores to do, life is not as difficult as it is for the Ingalls who live on the prairie. First of all, the Wilders have money and comforts that the Ingalls never had. There are county fairs, visits by the peddler, and a town close by. It definitely isn't as tough as pioneer life. Farmer Boy is the third book in this series of Little House books. Lorian G., Grade 6
Title: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Author: J.K. Rowling Why a five bug rating? I feel this way because this book gave me a lot more insight than the movie and I live the Harry Potter series. Brief synopsis or outline of the plot: Harry Potter returns to Hogwarts for his 4th year and ends up being picked for the Tri-Wizard Tournament and watches his friend get murdered. Title: The Hidden Staircase Author: Carolyn Keene Why a five bug rating? I felt this way because all the scary things like the attic, cabinet, and especially the man "ghost" laughing was later discovered and was very clever. Brief synopsis or outline of the plot: Nancy Drew is invited by her best friend, Helen Corning to solve a haunting at Twin Elms, an old stone manor that dates back to the late 1700's. Helen's Aunt Rosemary and Great-Aunt Flora own Twin Elms and recently have been approached by a suspicious character who wants to buy the estate. When they refuse, strange things start to happen. Carson Drew who is Nancy's father is kidnapped when he tries to reach Nancy. The Manor is full of surprises like disappearing objects, eerie happenings, hidden stairways and a secret tunnel. When Nancy investigates the Riverview Manor next door, the pieces start to fall into place. Lorian G. Grade 6
Title: How I Survived Middle School Author: Nancy Krulik Why a five bug rating? I felt this way because I thought that it was real life situations. The lesson is, you don't have to stick with the past - just move on to the future. Brief synopsis or outline of the plot: Jenny McAfee is ready to start sixth grade. She is nervous, but knows her best friend Addie Wilson will be there by her side. The trouble is that Addie wants nothing to do with Jenny. She hung out with the popular kids all summer at swim camp and now only cares about make-up, clothes, and being cool. She goes as far as to talk badly about Jenny to the popular kids behind her back at first and then right in front of her.
